Your life is your life
don’t let it be clubbed into dank submission.
be on the watch.
there are ways out.
there is light somewhere.
it may not be much light but
it beats the darkness.
be on the watch.
the gods will offer you chances.
you can’t beat death but
you can beat death in life, sometimes.
and the more often you learn to do it,
the more light there will be.
your life is your life.
know it while you have it.
you are marvelous
the gods wait to delight
If you're going to try, go all the way. Champions keep going when they have nothing left in their tank. It’s when you have nothing left, and I mean nothing left - that’s when it’s showtime.
Time to Train
Having lofty goals makes us really turn our attention towards the future. However, the details of the future are unclear, so we must stay present. It is in these moments that our goals come to us.
Don’t force the goals, stay present and they will come to you.

#Repost from two years ago. Nice reminder why I am still loving it... and beefing up for great 2018.
Almost exactly two years ago… my first pic under my new account @alexextramile which I set up for an upcoming ultramarathon challenge on the Isle of Wright. Not sure why I have chosen this running shirt for my first upload (I think my mum even bought it for me)… but I think the point was more to start and share this journey during the first few days of 2016. Maybe to become an Instagram hero… who knows.
Getting into running (again) in late 2013 and chasing my PRs from my teenage years was not enough anymore in late 2015. In general I have never been a big fan of those overcrowded city marathons. Living and running in London is crowded enough. So the iconic London marathon was not an option (or any other city race). I think I might have seen a documentary about some weird trail runners in the US which made me curious about similar events in the UK. And mate… was that a thing here.
After a few minutes of searching I was hooked by the idea to run a 100k race. Didn’t wanna start with a trail marathon or 50k. I needed those 3 digits. Just think about it… 100k… this even takes time on a car or train. And that is just the event. Considering training etc. you are doing multiples of that in the months before the event.
This is probably the main point here: You need the proper motivation. Something that gets you hooked and doesn’t let you down. I asked myself what it is for me and I can confirm it was the 3 digits/ pure ego to finish 100k and earn endless bragging rights.
Signed up in the end for the Isle of Wright Challenge organised by the lovely folks from @actionchallenge. And that was just the beginning…
