| A few questions answered about fillers 💉 | Part 1 |
-
❓What are dermal fillers?
Are gel-like products, comprised of Hyaluronic Acid, a natural component of our skin | They are hydrophilic (water loving) which contributes to connective tissue hydration | They can restore and revolumise skin and facial contours to give a more youthful appearance | They can smooth lines and wrinkles, firm up key facial structures and define the shape of certain areas, such as the lips |
-
❓Are dermal fillers permanent? |
You can get permanent fillers but they can cause complications years after treatment | We use temporary dermal fillers which contain Hyaluronic Acid and are naturally broken down by the body |
-
❓How long do the results last? |
This depends on the treatment area, as well as each individual’s internal factors and external/environmental factors | Cheeks fillers can last up to 18 months, Nasolabial and Marionette Line treatments can last up to 12 months; lip fillers can last up to 6 months | The more blood flow to an area or the more you use the area the quicker the filler breaks down, which is why lip fillers breakdown quicker than cheek fillers, that as well as a difference in the thickness of the filler used in the different areas |
-
❓Is it painful? |
Some areas are more sensitive than others | The lips have more nerves so certain parts of the lips will be more sensitive | The cheeks, for example, would be pretty much painless | When treating the lips we use a topical anaesthetic to help numb the area and constrict blood vessels to minimise bleeding | The filler itself may contain a local anaesthetic also to help numb the area | Most clients don’t experience much discomfort if any at all | There’s minimal to no downtime following treatments so you can go about your day |
-
❓Will it give me a “trout pout”? |
We tailor the result to the way you want it | We use advanced techniques to help shape and volumise your lips so that it still looks natural | If anyone wanted a slightly more than subtle look, we can help create that. Usually to build lips up, it will require a few treatments |
