Our #JBYAsanaOfTheWeek is standing splits! This pose will challenge your balance, open your hips and hamstrings, and build strength in the ankles.
Here’s some cues to help develop your standing splits: - To modify, try placing blocks on either side of the front foot to bring the earth closer to you for balance and support.
- To challenge your balance, try holding onto the ankle of the foot on the floor with one or both hands.
- Try to keep a nice length in the spine without rounding the upper back. Focus on lengthening rather than yanking the nose towards the knee.
For some extra fun, try planting the hands to the floor and practicing your handstand kicks!
